Congratulations to Mary Voelke!
Mary
was the winner of the Great Bicycle Give Away. She won a New Bicycle
from Northtowne Cycle and Fitness. Look for Mary on the bicycle trail
this year.

How We Got Started
This
bicycle club was founded in 2007 by Robert Lindsey. He was in poor
health and the doctor said him, "if his life did not change he would
not see his grandchildren graduate high school".
Bob
change his eating habits and started riding a bicycle. His first ride
was one mile to the car wash and he almost had to call his wife to come
get him. Bob never gave up and continued to ride.
The
summer of 2007 Bob formed a bicycle club at work. He ask some of his
co-workers to join him on rides. The support, encouragement and
relationships that were formed help change Bob's life. One year after the flood of 2008 in Cedar Rapids the
company closed it's doors.
In
2009 we, (members of the bicycle club), decided to change the name of
the club to: Linn Area Cycler's. Since then we have continued to
schedule bicycle rides twice a month. The LAC Bicycle club has become
well established here in Linn County.
LAC
has scheduled local rides, here in Cedar Rapids, on the third Saturday
of the month. We have also scheduled away rides on the first Saturday
of the month.
